Running is an exercise that many people do to stay in shape, lose weight, and reduce stress, and more. However, running may cause hip and knee pain that will force patients to seek relief from a chiropractor.

There are two different types of hip pain, intra-articular hip pain is caused by osteoarthritis and labral tears. Extra-articular hip pain is caused by bursitis. Osteoarthritis is caused by wear and tear from sports and weight bearing occupations. Osteoarthritis most commonly effects the elderly. Your chiropractor will be well versed in this and will be able to tell you the next best step.

Labral tears usually need to be identified by advanced imaging like an MRI, if a tear is present, your treatment plan will focus on improving range of motion and flexibility. They will also focus on muscular imbalances in the hip and associated areas.

Bursitis happens when the bursa becomes inflamed, this can cause pain and affect joint motion. In the hip, there are two major bursae. Another hip bursa is the iliopectineal located in the front of the hip in the groin area and under the hip flexor muscle. Chiropractors work with Bursitis frequently using a combination of manual therapies.

If you are experiencing any signs of the conditions listed, visit your local chiropractor and they can give you a treatment plan to fit your needs and get you on a health road to recovery!
