The Cause of my Back Pain?

Have you ever woken up in the morning and felt low back pain out of nowhere? Or as the day goes on your back pain gets progressively worse? This pain can arise from disks, nerves, the surrounding soft tissues, or all three. The Quebec Task Force recommends that low back pain can be divided into three categories such as, Mechanical LBP, nerve root related back pain, and pathology or fracture.

 

The correct diagnosis by your doctor is very important as it points them in the right direction of treating you and avoids wasting time by treating something unrelated. This will then ultimately yield the best results!

 

Mechanical low back pain is the most commonly seen type pf back pain, it encompasses pain that arises from sprains, strains, facet and sacroiliac syndromes and much more. The difference between this and a nerve related low back pain is the absence of a pinched nerve.

 

This Mechanisms of injury for both low back pain can happen when a person maintains an uncomfortable position for too long, over bends, lifts, and/or twists. Some patients can identify an event of, “micro-traumas” extending back in time that could be the cause of their low back pain.

 

Nerve root-related low back pain is not as common but it is often more severe as the pain can be very sharp, radiating, and cause numbness, tingling, and muscle weakness. The location of the pain depends on what nerve is pinched. There are seven nerves that innervate into our leg, so often, a specific location will ping in that area where you are feeling discomfort.
