Scoliosis is a condition where the spine has an abnormal curve
Scoliosis is a condition where the spine has an abnormal curve. This curve can present itself in a variety of ways. The lack of a proper spinal curve (when looking at the spine from the side) is considered a form of scoliosis, as is the twisting of the spine in any area. However, the most common form of scoliosis involves curves from side to side occurring where the spine should otherwise be straight. Idiopathic scoliosis is the type of the condition that most people have, and it can occur at any age, though it most commonly shows up in early adolescence.
Scoliosis Prevention
Unfortunately, most cases of scoliosis will progressively worse if not managed correctly. There are ways to prevent scoliosis from worsening and to prevent it from occurring in the first place. Since improper spinal alignment is essentially the definition of scoliosis, seeking chiropractic care to optimize spinal health is a great way to prevent this condition. And since most cases occur in young adolescents, the earlier you can get your little ones under chiropractic care, the better. A chiropractor can look out for signs of scoliosis and can proactively adjust your child to encourage proper spinal alignment and optimal overall health.
Can A Chiropractor Fix Scoliosis?
In short, yes, a chiropractor can help the condition. However, it’s important to remember that scoliosis doesn’t technically have a “cure,” as it is a condition that needs to be managed throughout one’s lifetime. With proper chiropractic care and regular adjustments, the abnormal curves in your spine can be improved upon. A chiropractor can gently adjust the spine to decrease muscle tension and encourage proper spinal alignment to reduce the curvature causing scoliosis.
